Soweto-born Vincent Mantsoe in conversation with Jeanette Bain-Burnett, Director of ADAD, about his work and influences, offering insights into the career and working practices of this award-winning artist.

Artists in global practice
Free but booking essential | Suitable for artists & others interested in cultural exchange
Performing artists work increasingly globally and new technologies enable ease of access to and dialogue with peers across the globe. This discussion creates a platform for African Crossroads artists Opiyo Okach, Neliswe Xaba & Kettly Noël and others to explore the creation and distribution of work which transcends across the world.

African Dance Class with Andréya Ouamba
£8 payable on the door (£3 for members of Feedback 33; Annual membership - £13) | Level: intermediate
Join 2006 Danse L’Afrique Danse winner Andréya Ouamba in a physical and dynamic class combining elements from traditional dance techniques, contemporary approaches and improvisation.

African Dance Class with live drumming
£5 payable on the door (+ £5 day membership for non-members of Danceworks) | Level: general
Award-winning dancer Andréya Ouamba will teach a class in traditional dance techniques from West Africa, including warm-up and teaching of a choreographed sequence.

Mon 12 October, 6.30 – 8.30pm. Siobhan Davies Studios
Improvisation Class with Andréya Ouamba and Matthias Sperling
£4.50 payable on the door | Level: previous experience of improvisation
A class in which Andréya Ouamba and Matthias Sperling explore their approach to improvisation, where the smallest of gestures become significant events and generate movement ricocheting from body to body.

African Dance Class with Kaolack
£10 payable on the door (or via East London Dance*) | Level: intermediate with some knowledge of African Dance Forms
Join outstanding dancer Pape Ibrahima Ndiaye, otherwise known as Kaolack, long term member of Germaine Acogny’s company Jant-Bi, in an energetic workshop in traditional dance techniques from West Africa.

Improvisation Class with Opiyo Okach
£4.50 payable on the door | Level: previous experience of improvisation
Opiyo Okach uses improvisation to ask fundamental questions of authorship and creativity in a global context. His approach is governed by heightened sensitivity to our relations to space and its ever-changing conditions.
