Dance Umbrella were delighted to join forces with the Barbican to present three films as part of our 2017 festival –

In The Steps of Trisha Brown

Ballet dancers don’t often get to try their hands at Trisha Brown choreography, but in 2013 her early signature piece Glacial Decoy joined the repertory of the Paris Opera Ballet. This documentary takes us behind the scenes in the weeks leading up to the first performance.

Before We Go

In this enigmatic and quietly moving film a trio of terminally-ill patients go backstage at the La Monnaie Opera House in Brussels and there interact and perform with actors, musicians and dancers. Together they attempt to express the fears and questions arising from their situation.

Flamenco, Flamenco

DU2017 artist Rocio Molina is one of an impressive line-up of Spain’s finest flamenco dancers, singers and musicians who feature in this dazzling documentary from acclaimed director Carlos Saura.
