Happy Days and The Way Station (London Premiere)
The Place: Robin Howard Dance Theatre
Tue 23 & Wed 24 October
Charles Linehan's unique and powerful choreographic vision is one of sonic exploration and understated intensity, achieved through an economy of means.
This year Charles Linehan Company performs his latest work The Way Station, alongside the 2005 Dance Umbrella commission, Happy Days.
The trio Happy Days is a bittersweet replaying of past events with belated insight; a work of choreographic rigour and enigmatic simplicity with a powerful emotional undertow.
The Way Station is a new duet for Rahel Vonmoos and Greig Cooke accompanied by live music from the collective Belgradeyard Sound System using double bass and samples. Processes of reduction and expansion, the distilled and the magnified, lie at the heart of this new work and are played out in the relationship between performers, lighting and music.
'There is a seductiveness in Linehan's confident choreographic voice that satisfies the rational senses and beguiles the irrational.' THE IRISH TIMES
‘One of our classiest choreographers’
