Contemporary dance has never been more popular. Year round programmes are being presented at venues around the country and there is huge range of work being produced. Against this backdrop it seems pertinent to ask why is there a lack of quality contemporary dance shows being created for children?

Emma Gladstone, Producer at Sadler’s Wells, who has been programming, commissioning and producing work for young audiences for nearly a decade, chairs a panel of dance artists and professionals working in the field including Creative Associate of ROH2 Will Tuckett, Dance Umbrella artist Tiago Guedes and Director of Imaginate Tony Reekie.

The panel discusses what inspires them to create work for children, what issues they face creating such pieces, and whether there is a desire from programmers around the country to support this type of work.

Presented by Dance UK and Dance Umbrella.
