Continuing on from performances of Three at Sadler’s Wells, Batsheva Dance Company moves to west London with a piece for nine dancers.
Mamootot is performed in the intimate environment of Riverside Studios, with the audience surrounding the performers on four sides. It is this proximity that gives Mamootot its intense power: in some moments, the entire space is devoured by explosive gestures; in others, a measured stillness takes over.
When the dancers come together in duets, a sensual electricity simmers below the surface.
