Daring solitude after twenty years of ensemble work, daring to show his feet, to show photos of his parents and daughters, daring to play himself… For Philippe Decouflé, this Solo is an irresistible challenge.

Using an array of screens and cameras, Decouflé plays with images and shadows. Creating an infinite number of patterns and virtual brother-like reflections of himself, Decouflé seeks to escape the ordinary world by generating a universe as excessive as his imagination.

Solo, Decouflé’s auto-choreographic fiction, is steeped in illusion. In it, he reveals to us the essence of his obsessions in art: how to contemplate one object from several angles simultaneously, how to tell a story in detail and as a panorama, and how to transform the body into an abstract kaleidoscope of forms.
